Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on court had led some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional victory, took control to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
